GIF Download is a free library of animated GIF collections and practical guides about the format. The site exists for one reason: when a chat needs the right loop, a birthday, a thank you, a laugh, a hug, you should find it in seconds, and when you want to make your own, the instructions should actually work.

What we publish

Two kinds of pages live here. Collections organize GIFs by mood and occasion, the way people really search: crying, dancing, excited, funny, birthday, new year, hug. Guides explain the craft behind the format: how GIF works internally, how to convert video, how to shrink files, how GIF keyboards and messengers handle loops, and where the copyright line sits in 2026.

How we make our GIFs

Our loops are made from videos and photos we like, converted with the same tools we recommend in the guides. Nothing is scraped from other libraries, and nothing requires an account to view or download. The site has been free since the beginning and stays that way.

A note on images

GIF culture runs on borrowed frames, and we take ownership seriously.
